Party leader calls for closer HCM City-Shanghai cooperation

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said he hopes the visit by Han Zheng, Secretary of China’s Shanghai Party Committee will help strengthen ties between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said he hopes the visit by Han Zheng, Secretary of China’s Shanghai Party Committee will help strengthen ties between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City as well as other Vietnamese localities.

At a reception for Han Zheng in Hanoi on May 13, the Party leader stressed that both sides should effectively realise common perceptions reached by the two Parties and countries, share experience and promote all-around links, for the sake of peace, stability, friendship and development in the two countries.

Han Zheng briefed his host about the developments of China and Shanghai over the past time, and the progress of cooperation between Shanghai and Vietnamese localities.

The Party, State and people of China always treasure the friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam, he stated, adding that he is committed to strengthening links between Shanghai and Vietnamese localities.

The same day, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai hosted a warm reception for the Chinese guest.

Host and guest extensively debated ways to extend exchanges and partnership between Hanoi and Shanghai in the foreseeable future.-VNA

Vietnam, Laos strengthen security cooperation

The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation mechanisms, particularly information sharing, to enable timely prevention and response to emerging threats, while providing strategic advice to their respective ministries. They also pledged to enhance coordination in addressing security challenges that could affect bilateral ties.

Key Vietnamese Party official lays wreaths at monuments in Phnom Penh

This is the first official visit to Cambodia by Tu in his capacity as Politburo member and Permanent member of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat. The visit takes place at a time of significant political and cultural importance, as Cambodia is preparing to celebrate its traditional New Year festival, Chol Chhnam Thmey. It also follows Vietnam’s successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, as well as the consolidation of its leadership apparatus and rollout of new strategic orientations.
