Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked new Vietnamese ambassadors and chief representatives overseas to keep improving knowledge and political firmness, and make the best use of all resources they may gain for national construction and defence.

At a reception for the newly appointed ambassadors and chiefs of representative offices in other countries in Hanoi on Apr. 18, Trong asked them to thoroughly grasp the Party and State’s guidelines and policies of independence, self-control, diversification and multilateralisation, both in internal and external affairs, to fulfil the highest goal of creating a peaceful and stable environment.

Trong reminded them to be vigilant of traps and temptations and make the peaceful evolution scheme by hostile forces a failure.

He stressed the need to learn about the host countries’ potential and aspiration in developing relations with Vietnam , helping popularise images of Vietnam and its people to international friends, contributing to building policies and guidelines in the country.

Given the country’s deep global integration and an increasing number of Overseas Vietnamese, the ambassadors and chief representative overseas need to pay more attention to community-based activities and citizenship protection, Trong said.

He also urged them to uphold solidarity and build strong and transparent Party organisations as set under the Resolution of the 11 th National Party Congress.

The ambassadors and chief representatives overseas pledged to do their best to increase understanding and cooperation with their host countries in a more practical and effective manner for the benefits of the nation.-VNA
