The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration (HAPPA) plays a key role in ideological and theoretical work and political education, as well as in practising revolutionary virtues within the Party and the society.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the remark while attending a ceremony to mark the 2011-2012 new school year at the Hanoi-based academy on September 7.

The Party and State highly value the role and achievements of HAPPA, Trong said, urging the academy to make more efforts in realising the tasks of a national training centre for middle and high-ranking officials of the Party, State and socio-political mass organisations as well as a national Marx-Lenin theory and Ho Chi Minh thought research centre, he said.

The Party chief asked the academy to continue improving training quality and following hard on the objectives, requirements and orientations of cadre strategies, in combination with cadre planning work.

The academy should attach special importance to enhancing training of cadres in theoretical perception, leadership and management skills as well as political virtue, morality, and working styles and methods, he said.

The Party General Secretary pointed out that in the current stage, the academy should focus on summing up the reality to develop theories, clarifying issues derived from reality and providing scientific foundations for mapping out Party guidelines and State policies and law.

At the same time, the academy also need to reject hostile opinions and wrong allegations, directly serving the task of improving the quality of training cadres, he said./.
