Party leader visits Laos for New Year

The visit was made at the invitation of General Secretary of the LaoPeople’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of the Lao People’sDemocratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone.

The Vietnamese Partyleader extended his best New Year wishes to LPRP leader Sayasone inAttapeu province, along with the former President of Laos KhamtaySiphandone in Champasak province, as well as local authorities in thetwo provinces.

At the meetings with Lao officials in the twosouthern provinces, he expressed the belief that with the leadership ofthe LPRP, the people of Laos will overcome all difficulties andchallenges to gain greater achievements in building a peaceful,independent, democratic, united and prosperous nation.

He displayed his happiness about the traditional friendship, specialsolidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, statesand peoples.

He confirmed that in anycircumstances, Vietnam will do its best to help Laos maintain and fosterthis valuable relationship to pass along to the future generations.

Further,the Lao officials congratulated Vietnam for achievements gained by theParty and the people in previous years, and said the Lao Party,government and people will do their best to maintain the traditionalfriendship with Vietnam.

Local authorities inthe two provinces also informed the Vietnamese Party leader about thesocial and economic development, as well as their cooperation withVietnamese localities.

During his stay, General Secretary Trongalso visited the Vietnamese Consulate in the southern region of Laos,covering the four provinces of Attapeu, Saravane, Sekong and Champasak.

He met with the Vietnamese community in the four provinces and Vietnamese entrepreneurs who are investing in the region.-VNA

Vietnam, India enhance defence cooperation
