General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong received Executive Committee Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Shii Kazuo, who is on his ongoing visit to Vietnam, in Hanoi on September 23.

At the meeting, Chairman Shii Kazuo spoke highly of huge achievements that Vietnamese people have gained in the renewal period and wished that more accomplishments will be reaped during the national construction and defence.

He also valued outcomes of the two parties’ cooperation in the past time and said he believes that their relations will be further reinforced and developed for mutual understanding as well as the regional and global peace, stability and social progress.

Meanwhile, General Secretary Trong congratulated the JCP on their success in recent elections of the upper house of Japanese Diet and Tokyo city council, and deemed this a great advance and evidence proving Japanese people’s confidence in the party.

The Vietnamese host valued exchange activities between the two parties, especially in discussion on theory and practice in the new context.

The two sides agreed on the need to boost multifaceted cooperation via various forms to build strong parties and lift their cooperation to a new height.

Earlier on the same day, Politburo member and Standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh held talks with Chairman Shii Kazuo.

The two sides discussed orientations and concrete measures to promote their friendship and traditional cooperation, thus enhancing Vietnamese and Japanese peoples’ ties.-VNA
