All resources available should continue to focus on developing information technology (IT) and telecommunications sector, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.
General Secretary Manh made the remarks during his visit on Feb. 2 to the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) before the traditional Tet holiday.
Manh told representatives that 2010 will be the last year for implementing the five-year socio-economic development plan and the IT and telecommunications sector needs continued investments as it remains critical for ensuring economic development, national defence and security and social welfare.
He praised VNPT and its employees for their significant efforts in training technicians and workers and developing post and telecommunications infrastructure, which helped the country match its IT with other developed nations in the world.
On the same day, the VNPT and the Ministry of Information and Communications launched a ceremony for a set of stamps to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam./.
