Jakarta (VNA) – A commercial plane of Indonesian airline Sriwijaya carrying 146 passengers overshot the runway while landing in an airport in Manokwari city, eastern Indonesia, on May 31.

The Ministry of Transport said no one was hurt after the Boeing skipped off the wet runway.

Images published by local media showed passengers being evacuated from the plane.

The airport had to close for hours so that the plane can be removed.

It is the latest incident for Indonesian air transport sector. In February, a Sriwijaya plane carrying 192 people from China to Bali was forced to turn back after the crew realised one of its doors was not properly closed.

In the same month, another plane overshot the runway as it was touching down the airport of Yogyakarta city in heavy rain. -VNA
