Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on March 4 received the Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces Gen. Gary North, who is on a working visit to Vietnam .
Deputy Chief Lieut. Gen. Tran Quang Khue welcomed the visit by the General and his delegation, describing it as a chance for the two countries’ air forces to share experience and look into areas for future cooperation.
In the recent past, the two armies have reaped fine results through cooperation in language training, military medicine, weather forecasting, and searching for US soldiers who went missing during the Vietnam war, he said.
The officer said he hoped that the cooperation and friendship between the two armies would continue to develop for their mutual benefit and in the spirit of the improving relations between Vietnam and the US .
North said he was delighted to visit Vietnam for the first time and informed his host on the outcome of his earlier working session with leaders of the Vietnamese Air and Air Defence Forces.
The US commander expressed his wish that the air forces of the two nations would continue to exchange experiences regarding flight safety, humanitarian aid, rescue work, weather forecasting and responding to natural disasters./.
