Hanoi, (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) on March 29 transferred two more FA-50 PH fighter jets to the Philippine military, bringing its total number of fighter jets to eight.

The Philippine Air Force announced that the two new fighter jets are now parked at a hangar in Clark Air Base in Pangpanga province, north of Manila.

Under the Philippine military’s modernisation programme, the two fighter jets are part of 12 supersonic trainers bought for 376.9 million USD in 2014 from the RoK aircraft maker Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) by the Benigno Aquino administration.

The first batch of fighter jets arrived in the Philippines in November 2015. The RoK will transfer the rest to the Philippines in September.-VNA
