Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) – A Philippine sailor in distress in waters off the coast of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau was rescued at night on May 11.

The sailor, born in 1976, had severe left abdominal pain and bloody urine, while his cargo ship with the Marshall Islands flag was about 105 nautical miles southeast of Vung Tau cape en route from Singapore to China.

Receiving the captain’s call for help, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre requested the Ho Chi Minh City Coastal Information Station to provide initial medical advice and guide the ship to urgently move to Vung Tau for support.

The centre also deployed a ship and doctors to the cargo ship to rescue the victim.

He then was taken to the FV (Franco-Vietnamese) Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment and is now out of danger./.
