Of the total, the Republic of Korea ranks first with over one million arrivals. It is followed by the US with nearly 649,700 and Japan, 371,000.

China, which took the lead for the two previous years, is settled for fourth position with about 313,400 arrivals. The decrease was blamed for the Luneta massacre targeting at Chinese people in 2011.

Despite warnings to tourists by the US, Australia and several EU countries following armed conflict in central Zamboanga city, the number of foreign arrivals to the country still climb, said BI acting head Siegfred Mison.-VNA
