As many as seven governmental soldiers were killed and two others were wounded in a roadside bomb on October 21 in the Philippines ’ northern Cotabato province, said local police.

The bomb was believed to be planted by rebels belonging to the New People’s Army (NPA).

The soldiers of the Army’s 38th Infantry Battalion were on the way to deliver food supplies to the civilian armed forces units stationed in Barangay Bituan in Tulunan town.

The same day, four soldiers of the 57th Infantry Battalion were wounded by another roadside bomb in Barangay Luna Sur in Makilala town.

The Philippines authorities affirmed the attackers are members of NPA groups operating in Sultan Kudarat, northern Cotabato and Davao del Sur provinces.-VNA
