Hanoi (VNA) – A rescue operation was launched by Philippine authorities on November 7 after a ferry with at least 60 people onboard capsized in rough seas.

The country’s coast guard said the vessel was moving near the central island Cebu when its crew radioed for help, saying the vessel was taking on water.

Authorities said there hasn’t a tally, but all those they recovered are alive.

Millions of people in the Philippines rely on rickety ferries for cheap transport between islands, and boat accidents are regular./.
