Hanoi (VNA) - The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) conducted a four-day joint drill on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief from July 5.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Manila, the joint drill, held at Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, is the first Air-to-Air bilateral training between the two air forces, marking a significant milestone for defence cooperation between Japan and the Philippines.

The training aimed to strengthen interoperability in delivering relief goods to affected people in an isolated areas in severe emergency situations, the embassy said in a statement.

Japan and the Philippines have increased their cooperation in defence. The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force has held several joint exercises with the Philippine navy./.
