A passenger bus was hijacked by a gunman on October 8 in the Philippines’ capital city of Manila. The suspect was shot dead by police, local media said.
According to the local radio DZMM, the gunman, who remains to be unidentified, boarded on the bus along Taft Avenue at round 14:00 (local time), declaring to take the passengers as hostages.
Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno was quoted as saying that when policemen saw a female passenger seized by the gunman, one of them went to the driver's side and shot him.
The kidnapper was rushed to the nearby Philippine General Hospital where he was declared dead. The female hostage was unharmed, according to DZMM.-VNA.
