Kiev (VNA) –
A photo exhibition on Vietnamese land and people is being held in Ukraine from June 5-8 to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

The event is part of the Vietnamese Culture Year in the East European nation.

Addressing the opening ceremony in Kiev on June 5, Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan said the exhibition aims to introduce the achievements that Vietnam gained in the cause of national building and development and promote Vietnam as a dynamic country.

It also highlights milestones in the friendship between Vietnam and Ukraine, he added.

President of the Ukraine-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group Oksana Yurinets said through the more than 100 photos displayed at the exhibition, Ukrainian visitors have better understanding about Vietnamese land and people and the sound relations between the two countries.

She said the exhibition, along with the upcoming Vietnam Day event in Lvov on June 21, will help promote bilateral rapport.

Vietnam and Ukraine established diplomatic ties in 1992. Trade is a top priority in the comprehensive partnership between the two nations. Last year, two-way trade was worth 355.5 million USD, a 34.5 percent increase from 2016.-VNA
