A photo exhibition on former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated region in central Quang Tri province in 1973, opened in Quang Tri on Oct. 7.

On display are 50 photos taken by photographer Sy So, many of which have won recognition such as the image of Fidel stamping on a cannon’s barrel left by the US troops in the battlefield.

So said it is his honour to be among a few photo journalists selected to accompany President Fidel Castro and Prime Minister Pham Van Dong in the visit to Quang Tri more than one year after liberation in September 1973.

The exhibition is held to mark Fidel’s 85th birth anniversary (August 13) and will last through Oct. 11./.
