Poor and ethnic minority households in the central province of Phu Yen will get access to new housing and farming land under a scheme recently adopted by their authorities.

The scheme worth over 211 billion VND (10 million USD) is expected to benefit 70 percent of the local households in need of residential and farming land by 2015.

Over 2,600 households will receive some 1,250ha of farming land between now and 2015.

As many as 54 new water supply facilities will serve over 7,900 families while 27 others will undergo upgrades, costing a total 102 billion VND (4.8 million USD).

In the meantime, more than 14.4 billion VND (685,000 USD) will be spent on land for building houses for benefited households.-VNA
