The Justice Ministry in coordination with UNICEF on May 19 launched a pilot programme to find adoptive families for children with special needs.

The programme aims to help children with deformities and life-threatening diseases living in orphanages to be adopted by foreigners and given opportunities to have better care and treatment.

In 2011, the ministry’s Department of Adoption will carry out the programme in four major cities and provinces of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The four localities have had experience in handling children adoption issues and have received positive assistance from foreign adoption offices.

The programme will be implemented in line with regulations of the Law on Adoption./.
