urged the educational sector to step up its efforts to create a local
higher education system that meets international standards and the
country’s demand for high-quality human resources.

Addressing a conference to sum up the 2008-09 school-year held in Hanoi on Aug. 25, PM Dung said, for 2009-10, the sector should focus on raising its management capacity, and reforming and improving the quality of education. He asked the sector to work out plans of action and fully tap social resources for educational development.
He suggested the Ministry of Education and Training design projects to upgrade some traditional institutions such as the National University, the University of Technology, and the Hanoi University of Medicine to meet international standards.
He set a target of building an advanced education system by 2020 in order to meet the human resource demands of the country’s industrialisation and modernisation process./.
