He attended an inauguration ceremony held in Hanoi on October 26 for the centre, which will produce radiopharmaceuticals for both medical scans (radiology) and cardiovascular and cancer treatment (radiotherapy).
The PM reminded the staff of hospital that they must step up scientific research and professional training to make it an outstanding institution in the country.
According to Hospital Director, Tran Duy Anh, the cyclotron 30 Mev centre, the first of its kind in Vietnam, was built at a cost of 508.9 billion VND (roughly 19 million euro) with 13.5 million euro in ODA provided by the Belgian government.
The centre’s radiopharmaceuticals will allow doctors to diagnose or treat cardiovascular diseases and cancer effectively, ushering in a new era of development for the country’s nuclear medicine, the director said./.
