Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on September 18 held the VFF National Patriotic Emulation Congress for the 2020-2025 period virtually, with the participation of delegates from all 63 cities and provinces.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also President of the Central Council for Emulation and Reward, praised the achievements of patriotic emulation movements carried out by all-level fronts.
He thanked Vietnamese people from all walks of life as well as Vietnamese expats for upholding patriotism and unity while supporting and following Party and State policies, thus contributing to the country’s achievements overall.
PM Phuc acknowledged the outstanding achievements of delegates participating at the congress and many other examples in the VFF’s works, and asked it to continue inspiring national great unity and calling on people to engage more in patriotic emulation movements.
The VFF should encourage people nationwide to exert every effort at work, apply scientific and technological advances in production and business, and become wealthy legitimately, he said.
The Government leader also requested that the VFF listen to people’s opinions, improve social supervision and feedback, and encourage people to join hands in fighting corruption.
President of the VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man said that many patriotic emulation movements have been carried out effectively over the past five years, thus helping achieve socio-economic development tasks and targets and ensuring defence security and external relations.
Many movements and campaigns have had extensive effects and enjoyed positive results, such as “The entire nation joining hands in building new-style rural areas”, “The entire nation joining hands in helping poor people - No one left behind”, “Vietnamese Businesses - Integration and Development”, and “Vietnamese people prioritise using Made-in-Vietnam products”.
On this occasion, Man also launched a patriotic emulation movement in the front network for the 2020-2025 period./.
