Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on April 26 arrived in Nanjing city, China, to attend the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and visit Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and Shanghai city.
Prime Minister Dung is scheduled on April 27 to meet Jiangsu province’s leaders and attend the Vietnam-China business forum, boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in economy, trade, investment and tourism.
Jiangsu is China ’s pioneer province in expanding relations with foreign partners. The province has set up cooperative ties with 194 cities and provinces of 42 countries around the world, including the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai in 1995.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Jiangsu province reached over 2.1 billion USD in 2009.
The PM’s current visit, scheduled from April 26 to May 1, is expected to help speed up the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China while also strengthening cooperative friendship relations between Vietnam and Chinese provinces in the near future./.
