The Government leaderwelcomed Hillary Clinton’s visit on the occasion of the 15 thanniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and highly valued theresults of her talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterPham Gia Khiem, which discussed ways to boost bilateral relations, inboth width and depth, in the fields of economics, trade, investment,education and training, and responses to climate change and rising sealevels.

PM Dung spoke highly of the US Secretaryof State’s visit to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum, saying he believedthat the contributions of the US and ASEAN countries’ efforts willhelp ensure regional security.

He also expressed thanks for the US government’s support for Vietnam in HIV/AIDS prevention.

ThePM then suggested the US not impose trade barriers such asanti-dumping and anti-subsidy taxes on Vietnamese goods, assistAO/dioxin victims and help the country deal with climate change.

For her part, Hillary Clinton affirmed that President Obama hadcommitted to raising the US-Vietnam relationship to a higher level ofcooperation and dialogue with the focus on cooperation in economics,trade, investment, health, and climate change response.

She added that in late October this year, she will arrive in Hanoito attend the East Asia Summit (EAS) and prepare for President Obama’sVietnam visit in 2011.

Regarding the EastSea issue, the US Secretary of State said that countries shouldwork together to ensure peace and maritime security under theinternational law. She expressed the support of the US for regionalcountries seeking a long-term solution for this issue, firstly abidingby the Joint Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea(DOC).

At the reception, both host and guest agreedthat the two sides should strive together to elevate their relationshipto a new level of development in the spirit of equality, mutual respectand mutual benefit. All problems should be addressed through cooperationand dialogue./.

Vietnam, Laos sign cooperation agreement to enhance financial management capacity for 2026–2030

The agreement was one of four cooperation documents exchanged during the Lao PM’s ongoing official visit to Vietnam, reflecting the determination of the two Parties, States, as well as ministries, and sectors of the two countries to further consolidate, strengthen and deepen the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos.

Vietnam, Thailand further bolster 50-year ties

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, Vietnam-Thailand ties have expanded steadily in both breadth and depth. The two countries enjoy strong political trust and close relations between their leaders and people. This has provided a solid foundation for deeper cooperation across all channels, including state, government, parliamentary, business, local-level and people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam, Thailand political parties seek closer ties
