Prime MinisterNguyen Tan Dung made this statement at a new school year openingceremony at the 115-year-old Quoc Hoc Hue for gifted students highschool in the imperial city of Hue , Thua Thien-Hue province onSept. 2.
Thanks to the due attention and efforts of teachers, aswell as the entire society, the country’s education sector had seensignificant development, with improvements in the education system andspecial attention to education in ethnic inhabited and difficult areas,he said.
However, he pointed out shortcomings and weaknesses inthe sector, particularly in areas with difficult socio-economicconditions.
He stressed the special significance of the 2011-2012academic year, saying that this was the first school year the sectorwould implement the 11 th Party Congress Resolution and the educationdevelopment strategy for the 2011-2020 period, with a focus on rapiddevelopment of human resources and fundamental and comprehensivemodernisation of the national education system.
The educationsector, including the Thua Thien-Hue service, should promptly build andcarry out the action programme to implement the 11 th Party CongressResolution in education and training, he said.
At the event, hepraised the efforts and achievements of the provincial education andtraining sector, especially the Quoc Hoc Hue school, in recent years.
Establishedin 1896, Quoc Hoc Hue high school had a proud tradition, with PresidentHo Chi Minh among many senior officials and scientists of the Party andState who studied and taught there./.
