PM kicks off new academic year at southern high school

Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.

September 3 attended a ceremony to kick off the new school year and
inaugurate the Nam Thai Son High School in Hon Dat district, in the
Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
With an investment of 20 billion VND funded by Technocom Group’s Thien Tam Charitable Foundation, the Nam Thai Son School is the first of its kind built on the flood plains of the Long Xuyen Quadrilateral, and will accommodate 650 pupils from three communes, including Nam Thai Son, My Thai and My Hiep Son.
Speaking at the ceremony, PM Dung urged the authorities of Kien Giang in general and Hon Dat district in particular to pay more attention to education, especially in remote areas which were revolutionary bases such as U Minh Thuong and Long Xuyen Quadrilateral.
The locality should overcome shortcomings by boosting education as this provides momentum for national development, he said.
On the occasion, the provincial Association for Sponsoring Poor Patients presented 100 bicycles, each worth 1.35 million VND, to the Nam Thai Son school’s poor students./.
