PM meets delegates to nuclear summit in RoK

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 27 had meetings with several delegates attending the second Nuclear Security Summit 2012 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK) as his sideline activities at the summit.

In a meeting with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt, PM Dungsaid he is delighted at the success both sides have enjoyed incelebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations in 2011.

Inaddition to decades of successful relations, Vietnam and Denmarkrecently established strategic partnerships in the areas of climatechange adaptation, environmental protection, green growth and energy.

Schmidt asked Vietnam to offer preferential policies for Danishinvestors to maintain long-term businesses in the country, especially inareas such as food processing, renewable energy, green andenvironmentally-friendly technology, among others.

Meetingwith European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and President of theEU Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, Dung asked the EU to make furtherefforts to allow negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement to begin andto soon recognise Vietnam as a market economy.

Later,Dung met with Finnish President Sauli Niinisto. The Vietnamese leadersaid he hopes that Finland will continue to assist Vietnam in theareas of poverty reduction, climate change adaptation and forestry.

In a discussion with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, bothleaders agreed to work closely to celebrate 40 years of diplomaticrelations in 2013. Though bilateral trade topped 5 billion USD in 2011,Dung said both countries have the potential to reach higher targets.

Gillard said she hopes the two countries will further co-operate ineconomics, commerce, investment, high technology, education, securityand national defence and other activities at regional and internationalforums.-VNA

16th NA reviews amendments to four tax-related laws on April 21

Lawmakers are expected to discuss the supplementary assessment of the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan and state budget, as well as performance in the early months of 2026. Draft law proposes flexible tax thresholds, extended incentives for EVs
