Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on February 6 received theformer liaison team of Vietnamese experts, who helped Cambodia fight againstthe Pol Pot genocide regime.

Speakingat the meeting with 22 team members, Phuc said Vietnam’s assistance to theCambodians at that time was a milestone in the country’s history and was highlyappreciated by the Cambodian Party, Government and army.

“Vietnam’s assistance to Cambodia is impartial, pure, and responsible,” heaffirmed.

Vietnam helped Cambodian people escape from the genocide regime and sentthousands of experts to help the neighbor revive their country, he stated.

Onbehalf of the Vietnamese Party and State, Phuc praised contributions of the formerexperts to Vietnam – Cambodia ties in the past and the current time, expectingthem to further their good work in the future.

He said despite their old ages, the former experts have continued to getinvolved in various practical activities in the community.

ThePM tasked the Government Office and the Ministry of Home Affairs with proposingways to honour the former Vietnamese experts who served in Cambodia.

Heinformed his guests on robust growth of relations between the two countries,with regular exchanges of high-ranking officials taking place. The sides haveworked closely in planting border markers and are planning to raise bilateraltrade to 5 billion USD ahead of 2020, the leader said.

Fortheir part, the experts expressed their expectation that the Party andGovernment will continue working with their Cambodian counterparts inreinforcing bilateral ties and educating the younger generation on mutualsupport shared between the two countries. -VNA

Thai Binh aims to eradicate substandard housing ahead of schedule

Thai Binh province has identified 2,106 eligible households—1,164 requiring new homes and 942 needing home repairs.
