Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and hisspouse welcomed Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim and his spouse, who are paying an officialvisit to Vietnam, at a ceremony held in Hanoi on July 20.

The trip on July 20 - 21 is the first official visit to Vietnamby PM Anwar Ibrahim since he took office in December 2022.

Following the welcome ceremony, the two PMs visited an exhibition featuring Vietnam, Malaysia, their people and relations jointly held by the Vietnam News Agency and the VietnameseGovernment Office, and then held talks at the Government’s headquarters.

During his stay in Vietnam, the Malaysian PM will also meetwith Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, andNational Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The leaders will review relations over therecent past and outline measures for promoting the strategic partnership.

This year, Vietnam and Malaysia celebrate the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties and the 8th anniversaryof the strategic partnership.

Actively working together to carry out theaction plan for implementing the strategic partnership for 2021 - 2025, the twocountries have frequently held high-level mutual visits and meetings andmaintained cooperation mechanisms. Both nations have paid attention to and share commonstances on many regional and international issues, including the East Sea.

Bilateral trade andinvestment have been growing continually. Malaysia currently ranks second inASEAN and 9th in the world among trading partners of Vietnam, which in turnis the third largest ASEAN trading partner of the former. Their trade stood at14.68 billion USD in 2022, up 17.4% year on year.

Malaysia isthe second biggest ASEAN investor and the 10th among 140countries and territories investing in Vietnam, with 702 valid projects worth13 billion USD.

The cooperation in labour, tourism, and education is also a highlightof their relations. There are about 12,000 legal workers and some 1,000 studentsof Vietnam in Malaysia. Besides, Malaysia is one of the top 10 sources offoreign tourists to Vietnam, statistics showed./.

National Assembly Chairman arrives in Türkiye for attendance at IPU-152

The IPU-152 carries the theme “Nurturing hope, securing peace and ensuring justice for future generations”. NA Chairman Man is scheduled to deliver a keynote address outlining Vietnam’s perspectives on global and regional issues, while putting forward concrete solutions to foster inter-parliamentary cooperation, contributing to maintaining peace, stability while driving sustainable and prosperous development worldwide.

Vietnam, Italy agree on new cooperation directions

Both sides agreed to facilitate market access for key export products, and prioritise cooperation in investment attraction and technology transfer in emerging and strategic sectors such as new energy, renewable energy and automation, while continuing to strengthen existing cooperation in textiles, footwear, climate change response, electronics, culture and tourism.

Vietnam, China enhance public security ties

Amid complex developments in the global and regional situation, the two sides agreed on the need to enhance substantive political trust, fight transnational crime, and accelerate negotiations and the signing of new cooperation agreements in line with international law and legal frameworks of both countries.
