The Vietnamese government values Prof. Ngo Bao Chau’s success, coupled with his passion for the country’s education in general and mathematics in particular.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made this statement at a reception for Prof Ngo Bao Chau on November 8 in Hanoi, on the occasion of his return to Vietnam to work with relevant ministries and departments on the establishment of an advanced mathematics institution in the country.
The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always take interests in the development of sciences, including mathematics and consider it a basic foundation for the country’s industrialization and modernisation cause.
He added that the government has approved the strategy for developing mathematics in the 2010-2020 period as well as the establishment of an advanced mathematics institution in the country.
Prof Chau affirmed that along with the Education and Training Ministry, he would spare no efforts and time to implement the mathematics development strategy. He also expressed his desire that he would like to receive continued support and favorable conditions to put the institution into operation effectively./.
