Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage visited the SEA Games Athletes’ Village giving regards and encouragement to Vietnamese players competing at the region’s largest sports event on December 9.

The government leader expressed his wish that the Vietnamese sports delegation and players will compete in a spirit of fair play and do their utmost to bring home the highest achievements and to help strengthen the solidarity and friendship among regional countries.

PM Dung asked the Vietnamese sports delegation to abide by the host country’s law and the regulations of the Organising Committee.

Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation Tran Van Quynh said that all Vietnamese athletes are ready for competitions during the SEA Games 25.

The attention of the Party, State and Government leaders is a great encouragement for the Vietnamese sports delegation as well as each athlete to pursue the highest achievements at the games for the honour of the nation and in the spirit of honesty, generousness, solidarity and friendship, added Quynh.

By December 9, Vietnamese teams won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the SEA Games, temporarily ranking second in the SEA Games medal tally.

Myanmar took the lead with two golds, two silvers and one bronze while Thailand came third with one gold, two silvers and one bronze./.
