ThePM said Vietnam treasures the maintenance and stable and sustainabledevelopment of friendship and cooperation with the Party, Government andpeople of China, stressing that this is the consistent policy and toppriority of Vietnam’s external policy.
He suggested the twocountries enhance friendship and cooperation and resolve dissimilaritiessatisfactorily to create an environment of peace and stability forcooperation and development. He described this as a common basic andlong-term interest of the two Parties, States and people of Vietnam andChina.
For his part, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang affirmed thatChina attaches importance to boosting cooperation with Vietnam and willspare no effort to deepen the two countries’ comprehensive strategiccooperative partnership.
He said his visit is designed to joinhands with the Vietnamese side to implement agreements reached by thetwo countries’ senior leaders.
With the common perception, PMDung and Vice Premier Zhang agreed that the two sides will increasepolitical trust by maintaining contacts and exchanges of high-rankingdelegations. Through the meetings, the two sides should exchange viewson important issues in the two countries’ ties and ease obstacles bornduring cooperation, ensuring the two countries’ relations develop on theright track, they said.
Zhang said that Chinese Party GeneralSecretary and President Xi Jinping highly appreciated the invitation tovisit Vietnam by Vietnamese leaders and asked the two sides to workclosely to arrange the trip.
Zhang renewed the invitation by Chinese leaders to PM Dung to visit China as soon as possible.
Duringthe meeting, host and guest concurred with enhanced cooperation ineconomics, trade, investment and tourism and hoped bilateral trade wouldreach 100 billion USD in the near future.
They also agreed topromote the role of the two infrastructure and monetary working groupswhile discussing China’s wish to invest in major infrastructureconstruction projects in Vietnam and take part in initiatives onstrategic development connectivity between the two countries and inproduction capacity enhancement.
They also agreed to encourageexchanges and cooperation between localities, especially border areas,promote the building of cross-border economic zones, increasepeople-to-people exchanges, particularly among the youth, and expandpersonnel training cooperation.
Regarding the East Sea issue,Prime Minister Dung urged both countries to maintain effective controlof differences at sea; avoid activities that complicate thecircumstances further; strictly implement the basic principles guidingthe settlement of sea-related issues between two nations and theDeclaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC); fostercollaboration with ASEAN countries to complete a Code of Conduct (COC)in the East Sea; address sea disputes through peaceful measures in linewith international laws, including the 1982 United Nations Convention onthe Law of the Sea; and work together to maintain regional andinternational peace and stability.
The Prime Ministerrecommended the two sides step up negotiation mechanism on marine issuesand fully realise cooperation agreements, including negotiations ondelimitation accompanied with cooperation in the waters off the mouth ofthe Gulf of Tonkin.
Concurring with the Vietnamese PrimeMinister’s viewpoints, Vice Premier Zang Gaoli stressed that the twosides need to implement the signed agreements, avoid actions thatcomplicate the situation, effective control of all dissimilarities andenhance collaboration in less sensitive fields at sea.-VNA
