Hanoi (VNA)Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed his willingness to listen with high responsibility to opinions of intellectuals, experts, people and particularly National Assembly deputies on the proposal of land lease of 99 years in the draft law on special administrative-economic units.

The PM made the statement in reply to reporters’ questions regarding the Law on Special Administrative-Economic Units of Van Don, Bac Van Phong, Phu Quoc on June 4 on the sidelines of the ongoing NA’s fifth plenary session.

As schedule, the bill will be adopted during the session.

The PM said that the establishment of special economic zones has been successful in many countries around the world.

Currently, the bill is being adjusted and completed, he said, adding that the National Assembly Standing Committee will carefully analyse all ideas related to the draft law before approving it.

“The last decision will be made by the National Assembly. Whatever the decision is, the Government will respect it,” stated the PM.

He clarified that the time limit of 99 years of land lease is only granted to special cases after being considered by the PM with consultations with authorised agencies. However, he also stressed the need for attractive policies to lure investment.

The formation of special economic zones must be implemented in line with resolutions of the 12th Party Congress and the Party Central Committee, as well as directions from the Politburo on policies related to the building of the zone, he added.-VNA
