A poetry and music night entitled “Country-Love-Spring” was held in Laos on February 28--the fifteen day of the first lunar month--as an activity to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The night created an ebullient spring atmosphere for Vietnamese people who are working and studying in Laos with natural and heart-left verses bearing the breath of life. Along with the poetry read aloud, poems about Uncle Ho, Hanoi and other regions of the country, set to music, were performed.

A similar poetry night also took place in the German capital city of Berlin on February 27.

Dang The Sang, Chairman of the Berlin Poetry Lovers’ Club which organised the event, said the night aimed to encourage the creation of poems and preserve the nation’s traditional cultural values in the overseas Vietnamese community.

This was also an activity to celebrate the millennium anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, he added.

Established in late 2009, the Berlin Poetry Lovers’ Club has drawn the participation of many professional and amateur poets as well as a large number of poetry enthusiasts./.
