Polish orchestra to make Vietnamese debut for festival

The OSP Nadarzyn Orchestra, a brass band propagating Polish culture in the form of music, will present its first performance in Vietnam at the 2014 Hue Festival, themed “Cultural heritage with integration and development” scheduled for April 12-20.
The OSP Nadarzyn Orchestra, a brass band propagating Polish culture in the form of music, will present its first performance in Vietnam at the 2014 Hue Festival, themed “Cultural heritage with integration and development” scheduled for April 12-20.

The band, including Polish amateur artists, will perform religious and patriotic tunes, as well as pop, jazz and classical standards. Notably, they will perform outside in dynamic marching parades on the streets in central Thua Thien-Hue province.

Founded by musical director Mirosław Chilmanowicz in 1998, the orchestra has toured many countries around the world, including Italy, Germany, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the US. The band was awarded a “Service to Polish Culture” medal by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2008.

The 2014 Hue Festival, the 8th of its kind, will include large-scale activities related to culture, tourism and arts. Exhibitions, kite performance, art performance, science workshops, trade and tourism fairs, sport events and the performance of culinary art will be held at the 9-day festival.

The event is expected to draw about 200,000 visitors, with half of them foreigners.-VNA
