The Party Political Bureau held a working session with Hanoi’s Party standing committee on August 27 to give comments on draft documents and personnel plans for the upcoming municipal Party congress (term 2010-2015).

The Politburo highlighted important achievements and positive changes the expanded capital city has made during five years of implementation of the its 14th Party Congress Resolution (2006-2010).

For the next five years, 2011-2015, the city should speed up the renovation of its economic development model and structure, attaching importance to quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the city’s economy, the Politburo said.

It urged the city to focus on high-quality sectors and services, hi-tech industries of high knowledge content, less labour and less environmental pollution, developing a sustainable agriculture together with building a green, clean and beautiful Hanoi , the country’s economic centre.

Attention should also be paid to municipal planning and its management, the Politburo said.

It requested that Hanoi soon complete the master plan for the expanded capital city and intensify synchronous investment in infrastructure, especially transport and rural areas.

The city was also asked to promptly move environmentally polluting production establishments and several universities and medical clinics out of its centre to reduce population density.

Hanoi should also accelerate the building of new rural areas, ensure social security and improve people’s life quality in order to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, the Party Political Bureau said./.
