A polypropylene plant in the central province of Quang Ngai will officially be handed over to its investor, PetroVietnam, by the end of May.

Director of Hyundai, the plant’s main contractor, Hyeon Sung Hong said on March 18 that 99.45 percent of the construction is complete and production of the first polypropylene products on a trial basis is scheduled to begin by the end of April.

With an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes, the plant, which is the first petrochemical project located at the Dung Quat oil refinery complex is being built at a cost of nearly 3 trillion VND (roughly 166 million USD).

It will use propylene refined by Dung Quat oil refinery to produce polypropylene (PP), which is widely used in the manufacture of autos, power, packing and other items serving daily life./.
