Poor students receive Buddhists’ gifts

The organising board of the national Buddhism propagation seminar 2011 has handed over 1,000 bikes to poor students in the southern province of Binh Duong as well as 100 gift houses worth more than 2 billion VND.
The organising board of the national Buddhism propagation seminar 2011 has handed over 1,000 bikes to poor students in the southern province of Binh Duong as well as 100 gift houses worth more than 2 billion VND.

The donation was made at a conference to announce that the national seminar entitled, “Buddhism with the nation” will take place in the southern province of Binh Duong from March 10-13.

Venerable Thich Hue Thong, who is also Deputy Head of the Central Dharma Propagation Committee and the Binh Duong Buddhism Executive Committee, said the seminar was an activity of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha over the past two millenniums.

At the seminar, Buddhist followers will focus their discussions on how to propagate Buddhist dogmas to people from all walks of life.

How to solve pressing issues that Buddhism has to face is also included in the agenda.

During the seminar, activities include a requiem to pray for peace of the nation and the souls of the dead, a social charitable programme for heart and eye surgery for poor children worth more than 13 billion VND, exhibitions of 150 paintings and photos of activities of the Central Dharma Propagation Committee and the Binh Duong Chapter of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and a procession entitled, “Buddhism with environment” will also be held./.
