As many as 600 workers at industrial zones in the southern Binh Duong province were provided with complimentary bus to go home for the Tet holiday on February 6.

The scheme organised by the provincial Federation of Labour aims to help workers from the northern and central provinces enjoy the year’s most important holiday with their family.

Pham Huyen Trang working at Binh Duong industrial zone said she was happy, and expressed her gratitude to the Federation for the free travel to the central Nghe An province.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Bui Thanh Nhan said they have arranged more than 10 buses to transfer workers to their home towns, including in northern Lang Son and Yen Bai provinces.

The total cost of providing free travel for the workers is more than 600 million VND (30,000 USD), he added.

The same day, a festival to wrap 7,200 “banh tet” (cylindrical glutinous rice cakes) that will be donated to the poor, orphans, workers and island soldiers was jointly held by the southern Dong Nai province and the Dong Nai Food Industrial Corporation (DOFICO).

The event demonstrated the authority and enterprise’s social responsibility to disadvantaged people. -VNA
