Electricity output nationwide strongly rose during the recent hot days, said the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).
On May 20 only, the output reached 402.4 million kWh, increased by nearly 12 percent over the same period last year.
According to EVN, during this year’s dry-season months, the group continues using power sources from coal and gas-fuelled electricity plants. Meanwhile, the source from hydroelectricity plants will follow a set electricity regulatory plan, and power bought from China will be mobilised as much as possible. Power from DO and FO oils will be also mobilised.
In order to meet the increasing demand, the group is now urging the National Power Transmission Corporation to work closely with provincial People’s Committees, particularly Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City , to speed up the construction of 500-kV electricity lines.
Besides, the corporation accelerated projects to raise capacity for transformer stations and upgrade electricity transmission lines.
While blazing heat continues on a large scale, water flow to hydroelectricity plants’ reservoirs is still at a low level.
Therefore, economic and appropriate use of electricity is the best solution for customers and businesses across the country, EVN recommended.-VNA
