Hanoi (VNA) – The Premier League trophy is expected to reach Vietnam in mid-September as part of its parade through 20 countries and territories worldwide.

A trophy parade and other events for fans, including a meeting with a former Manchester City player, are scheduled to take place in Hanoi.

The organisers, Saigon Hanoi Commercial Bank (SHB) and others, said they will soon unveil specific dates and events.

The Premier League trophy stands 76 cm tall and 43 cm wide, with the base, made from Malacite, a semi-precious stone found in Africa, weighing 15 kg.

The design of the trophy was based on the theme of "The Three Lions of English Football".

The trophy will come to Vietnam after the Vietnam Olympic football team concluded their memorable run in the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The team was praised for reaching an ASIAD bronze-medal match for the first time ever. Although they lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 3-4 in a penalty shootout, their performance was celebrated by fans and the boys returned to a hero’s welcome.-VNA
