Preparations for launch of second field hospital reviewed
The Steering Committee on UN Peacekeeping Mission held a meeting on November 6 to review preparations for the launch of the second level-two field hospital before the hospital is dispatched to South Sudan.

the launch of the second level-two field hospital before the hospital is
dispatched to South Sudan.
Speaking at the event, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations Maj. Gen Hoang Kim Phung said the hospital staff had underwent medical, political, military, and technical logistics training. Seventeen out of the total 63 staff members scored over 5.5 in IELTS English language test.
The department has worked with international partners and units concerned to provide intensive training on sorting patients, conducting surgery in field combat conditions, and dealing with mass injuries.
Paper work is being carried out as scheduled, and detailed plans for goods transportation and delivery along with field surveys have been made, he said.
Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen Nguyen Chi Vinh, who is also head of the steering committee, requested ensuring safety while operating the hospital in South Sudan.
He affirmed the ministry’s determination to launch the first no-plastic waste hospital in all UN peacekeeping missions.
Staff of Vietnam’s Level-2 field Hospital No. 2 is scheduled to be sent to South Sudan from November 13-26 to assume the tasks their peers of Hospital No.1 are performing within the UN peacekeeping mission in the African country. /.
