President congratulates winner of letter writing competition

President Nguyen Minh Triet has sent a congratulatory letter to the recent winner of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Letter Writing competition, Ho Thi Hieu Hien.
President Nguyen Minh Triet has sent a congratulatory letter to therecent winner of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Letter Writingcompetition, Ho Thi Hieu Hien.

Hien, who is in 7th gradeat Tay Son Secondary School in central Da Nang City 's Hai Chaudistrict, was the first student in Vietnam to win the prize in the20 years that the country has taken part in the competition.

In the letter, President Triet wrote that he was touched at Hien'sthoughtful and affectionate writing about the 2010 competition themewhich was: "Write a letter to someone to explain why it is important totalk about AIDS and to protect yourself against the disease."

"I believe your letter will be a torch to relieve pain and wipe out theproblem of discrimination against people living with AIDS and will be awake up call for unconcerned people," Triet wrote.

ThePresident expressed his wish for the winner to reap further success inher studies and said she deserved the title ‘Uncle Ho's niece'./.

Ho Chi Minh City addresses manpower shortage for urban railway development

Under the human resources training scheme serving the development of the urban railway network approved by the municipal People’s Committee, the city will need around 70,000 workers by 2030 to support investment in and development of its metro system, including project management personnel, operations and maintenance staff, engineers, technical workers, consultants and designers.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
