President Truong Tan Sang, together with village heads, religious dignitaries, intellectuals and Vietnamese expatriates, enjoyed a feast of ethnic minority culture at the Culture –Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Hanoi’s outlying district of Son Tay on February 15.

He stated that on the path towards industrialisation, modernisation and international integration, traditional culture needs to be well preserved to solidify the great national unity for the safeguard of the nation’s independence, sovereignty, unification and territorial integrity.

The feast, known as “Spring colours on all parts of the nation”, raises understanding and a sense of solidarity among Vietnamese ethnic groups, according to the President.

He joined in a peace-praying festival by Lo Lo group from the northern province of Ha Giang.

Adding to the air of festivity is various one-of-a-kind customs, a horse-racing competition or rituals of new rice offering.

The three-day festival is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the village’s management board and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.-VNA
