Da Nang (VNA) President Tran Dai Quang on April 18 made an inspection tour of several facilities serving the APEC High-level Week 2017 in the central city of Da Nang this November.

He looked at the reception hall for head delegates, the main conference hall, the venue for the APEC Business Advisory Council dialogue and the CEO Summit, the new terminal at Da Nang International Airport and the International Press Centre.

The President pressed the button to kick start a countdown clock to welcome the APEC High-level Week in the city.

At a working session the same day with representatives of the National Committee for APEC 2017, the President noted that hosting the APEC Year 2017 is a focus of the country’s external affairs, demonstrating the Party and State’s policy of active international integration.

It will be an opportunity for Vietnam to promote multilateral diplomacy and deepen bilateral relations with its leading partners in the region and the world, while giving Vietnamese localities and businesses a chance to introduce their potential and seek partners, he stated.
The leader spoke highly of efforts made by the National Committee for APEC 2017,  the National Secretariat on APEC 2017, and Da Nang municipal authorities to prepare for the event, while asking for more efforts to speed up construction to early finish infrastructure projects, especially Da Nang airport.

He requested the Ministries of Defence and Public Security to coordinate and map out specific plans to ensure security and order for events during the High-level Week.

The President also stressed the necessity to boost communications to help the public gain insights into the meaning and importance of the APEC Year 2017 so that they can contribute to promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends.-VNA
