Hanoi (VNA) - President Vo Van Thuong and his spouse left Hanoi on July 23morning for an official visit to Austria, a State visit to Italy and a visit tothe Vatican.

The visits, lasting until July 28, are made at theinvitations of President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, President ofItaly Sergio Mattarella and Pope Francis.

This will be the first visit to Austria by aVietnamese President in the past 15 years, and the first trips to Italy and theVatican by a Vietnamese head of state in the past seven years. The President'svisit to Italy will be also the most important highlight as the two countriesare celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations and the10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership in 2023.

President Thuong is accompanied by Chairman of thePresidential Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son,Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Secretary of the PartyCommittee of Vinh Phuc Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, Vietnamese Ambassador to AustriaNguyen Trung Kien and Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Duong Hai Hung, amongothers.

The visits aim to continue implementing the foreign policy ofthe 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on independence,self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; promote anddeepen Vietnam’s bilateral cooperation with Austria, Italy and the Vatican. Theyare also to help boost Vietnam-EU relations and contribute to enhancingASEAN-EU ties./.

Vietnam, Indonesia promote collaboration in personnel training

To formalise cooperation in personnel training and development between the two countries, as well as between the HCMA and Lemhannas, the Vietnamese official suggested that the international cooperation units of both sides create a priority cooperation framework and prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding.
