At the reception, President Phuc thanked the Australian Government for its commitment to providing Vietnam with 29.9 million USD to get access to COVID-19 vaccines, as well as its supply of additional 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for the Southeast Asian country. 

He hailed the successful talks between the Australian guest with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien in the morning, during which both sides exchanged measures to promote bilateral ties in trade, industry and energy in the coming time.

Dan Tehan, for his part, affirmed his concerted efforts to connect cooperation plans between the two sides. He also spoke highly of Vietnam’s work to control COVID-19 and maintain economic development.

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh meet Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan.

Welcoming Tehan, Minh expressed his delight at the strong development of the Vietnam-Australia strategic partnership in multiple fields, particularly economy, trade and investment - the focus of the bilateral strategic partnership.

Minh said he hopes that Vietnam will become one of Australia’s ten largest trade partners and vice versa.

Also pleased to see the growing bilateral ties, Minister Tehan said Australia is committed to cooperating with Vietnam in tackling challenges from the pandemic.

He asked the Government of Vietnam to back the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy and continue fostering the bilateral trade and investment relations, with the focus placed on food security, water resources and high technology./.
