The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) continually backs the Russian President and government’s initiatives to develop ties with Vietnam, its President Gennady Zyuganov told President Truong Tan Sang in Moscow on May 8.

Zyuganov strongly believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam will continue reaping successes towards prosperity.

He said the CPRF recently admitted an additional 25,000 new members and wants to foster exchanges with Vietnamese counterparts.

President Sang, who is in Moscow for the 70 th anniversary celebrations of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Russia from May 7-10, pressed for intensified political collaboration through regular visits.

The Vietnamese Party, State and people appreciate the invaluable support from the Russian communists and people to Vietnam during the struggle for national independence, he said.

The guest also hailed cooperation projects proposed by the CPRF to boost bilateral ties.

Receiving leader of the Leanvest Group the same day, President Sang vowed all possible support for Russian investors in Vietnam.

As Vietnam enters a new growth stage with an imperative need to shift to new growth models, fine-tune legal regulations and ramp up infrastructure, the country gives high priority to ties with Russia, he added.

The Leanvest Group leader asked for support for seafood processing and export businesses from the Far East of Russia.

He also hoped for preferential tax incentives, including those for seafood, as well as facilitating the spread of Russian films in Vietnam.

In a meeting with leader of the submarine building group, President Sang said Russia is a significant military technical partner of Vietnam and affirmed continued bilateral coordination in scientific studies and opening service and maintenance centres.

He stressed that Vietnam-Russia engagements in national defence-security is beneficial to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The group has transferred three out of six submarines to Vietnam and is working to hand over the remaining by 2016, the host informed, and thanked Vietnam for selecting the group to build the first fleet of submarines in the country.-VNA
