Vietnamese State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Belusconi on Dec. 12 (local time) visited a relic site dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in Milan city.

The site, on Pasubio street No. 10, was the place President Ho Chi Minh used to live and work in the 1903s when the great leader came to meet the Communist International’s comrades and Italian friends.

During his earlier reception for the Polytechnic University of Turin’s Rector Francesco Profumo, President Triet said that Vietnam considers education and training a key national policy, a foundation and a momentum to foster its industrialisation and modernisation, and ensure sustainable development.

Cooperation in education and training forms an important part in Vietnam ’s policy of strengthening and expanding its comprehensive cooperation with Italy , the president elaborated.

He spoke highly of the Polytechnic University of Turin’s cooperation with Vietnamese universities over the past 20 years as well as its scholarships granted to Vietnamese students.

The State leader proposed the university continue to expand cooperative ties and share tertiary and post-graduate research with Vietnam ’s institutes and universities.

Profumo said his university already received 18 Vietnamese students for study in the 2009-2010 academic year.

It has just embarked on a programme to exchange students with the Ho Chi Minh City University , under which 30 Vietnamese students and postgraduates will have the opportunity to study at the Polytechnic University of Turin and other colleges in Italy, he added./.
