Former Japanese Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy Iwao Matsuda was received by State President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on October 2.

Iwao Matsuda presented an innovative project to tap into the expertise of Japanese senior human resources, with a view to boosting technology transfer and industrialisation in Vietnam.

He said he was looking to launch the project as soon as possible, since it had garnered substantial support from the Japanese Government and relevant agencies.

The Japanese guest said the project was welcomed by the Vietnamese agencies and private businesses he met with during his working visit.

President Truong Tan Sang thanked Iwao Matsuda for his continuous contributions to promoting the Vietnamese-Japanese friendship.

He agreed to the Japanese guest’s proposal to establish a coordination mechanism to translate the idea into action.

He said the project would contribute to the realisation of the Joint Statement on the Extensive Strategic Partnership signed in March 2014 in Tokyo.

The President acknowledged that Japan’s senior human resources, a valuable source of expertise that helped make Japan the successful economy it is today, would help accelerate the industrialisation process in Vietnam.

Iwao Matsuda also acts as Head of the Vietnam Festival Organising Board in Japan.-VNA
